Guitar painting

Ok very new to this but..

is it possable to paint a logo onto a guitar body without going through the process of stripping it etc ?

the guitar in question is an Epiphone "Goth" Explorer

i really dont want to strip it down as i want to keep the satin black finish of the guitar but do want to add a small around 5" by 3 1/2 " logo

(basicly just a white cross with a red x in the center

You could probably just make (or have made) a stencil of it and then paint it on. I don't see why it wouldn't work
