Robb Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Hey, since I'm completely new to this, I thought I would post this question to people who obviously know way more than myself. I'm working on a first custom guitar and need some guidance in the finishing department. I plan on having a tobacco brown stain for the body and was wondering the steps and products needed to achive a glass-like finish. The body is basswood with a quilted maple top, and I know that I should probably use either a grain filler, but more than likely will use a sanding sealer, and then I'm guessing, the stain, with finally several coats of Nitro Cellulose. Is this right? Plus, I live in Canada, so does anyone have any idea where I could pick this stuff up? Thanks guys... Robb Quote
unclej Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 hey robb..if you'll start by going to the drop down menu a the bottom of this page and go to the inlay and finishing tutorial page you'll probably find most of your answers. then go to the home page and select tutorials and read a little more. then if you have specific questions post them here and someone will be glad to answer. the only reason that i'm suggesting this is that your questions have been asked and answered a bunch of times so it'll be easier for you to look them up. good luck with your project. A little expensive but they offer up quality products. Google them and you will find locations throughout Canada. Quote
