possum1284 Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 hi i won a prs ce24 on ebay for 841 with shipping. is that a good deal? Also is the guitar a genuine prs? Auction link thanks, Adam Quote
Nitefly SA Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 headstock looks a little funky to me Quote
thegarehanman Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 I think what you're interpreting as "funky" is really just the headstock being tilted back. Quote
possum1284 Posted December 11, 2005 Author Report Posted December 11, 2005 I think what you're interpreting as "funky" is really just the headstock being tilted back. ← so do u think its authentic excluding ther pickups and case? my real concern is that its a dillion or similar brand nockoff. thanks, Adam Quote
verhoevenc Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Looks real to me except for ONE thing... don't CE24s usually come with non-covered pickups (however, this is a slightly old guitar... so they maybe USED to come with covered? don'tk now?) But hell, might be after market, etc. Looks good to me. If you're afraid, get it and I'll trade you my dinged up metalic purple PRS CE22 for it lol. Chris Quote

It doesn't have the original pickups. I can't help you beyond clarifying the headstock thing...I know very little about PRS'. Edited December 11, 2005 by thegarehanman Quote

THEIR GIBSON PICKUPS ACTUALLY. besides that how does it look. im worried its a dillion or another brand of cheap knock offs. thanks, Adam Quote
Setch Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 It all looks prefectly legit to me... why get all worried without any cause? The guy has good feedback, the listing and photo look genuine - why are you concerned?!? Quote
verhoevenc Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 yeah, i just loooked at the picturesw, didn't read it. but yeah, it look EXACTLY like my CE22 (plus the extra two frets lol of course) I'm pretty sure it's legit Chris Quote

verhoevenc Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 like i said, if you feel uncomfortable i'll trade ya and get a GREAT deal out of it. you'll get a PRS with 22 frets and several chips in the paint and a solid color.... but 100% sure it's PRS, and i'll get a SWEET green flame toped 24 fret lol, ie: chill out, it's a bitchin' guitar. Hope you enjoy the guitar ← i plan on it once i get some more cash and going back to the 5way prs switch. holidays put a drain on the funds. i plan on puting the gibson pickups in my epiphone les paul standard. thanks adam Quote
crafty Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 C'mon...Gibson pickups aren't that bad. You might actually like how they sound in that guitar, too. Stock CE and Custom 24s are a little too bright for my tastes, so I think I'd like the Gibsons in there, myself. Quote
Mickguard Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Anyway, you bid on the thing, it's yours now. Quote
marksound Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Dude, the auction ended a week ago and you're just now worrying if it's for real? Sheesh. Quote
Maiden69 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 It looks real to me, but I was under the impression that PAul have been using compensated nuts on his guitar for about a decade or more now? That one looks like a regular. Other than that, you can check the SN on the PRS site or e-mail them... Quote

Recursion Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 You'll Just have to wait 'till it gets to you. It looks real to me. But it is slightly modified. Quote
possum1284 Posted December 12, 2005 Author Report Posted December 12, 2005 i got my cce24 today, it's impressive. my main corcerns are as follows: is this a finish defect or the wood grain wood grain or finish problem Also does the neck seem bowed a little near the nut( area circled in red)? are all ce necks this dark in color? neck thanks, Adam Quote
thegarehanman Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Looks like the 'defect' you mentioned is just some wear and tear from the previous owner's arm resting there. Things like that should be expected when buying a used guitar. Does the neck feel bowed? Does the action reflect a bowed neck? Is there any fret buzz. You're giving us very little to work on here. I think you're getting really paranoid about this thing. You bought it, you live with it. It seems like you got a good deal. Quote

thegarehanman Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 When did I say anything about dings, and how would you put dings in the guitar from resting your arm on it? The circular pattern is exactly what I was reffering to. Common sense would lead you to believe that that circular pattern is right below where your arm rests on the guitar. Accordingly, it's most likely a wear mark. Quote
mikhailgtrski Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 That "circular pattern" is the normal grain of the maple. It's usually more noticeable before the dye is applied. When the top is dyed the flame/quilt figure becomes more prominent and you don't notice the grain lines. But not always - it varies from piece to piece. Quote
