GuitarGuy Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Other than parker guitars I have never seen an aftermarket trem the pivots on any kind of bearing? Why is this. Does parker have a patent on it? Quote
rhoads56 Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Have you forgotten about Kahler? Ibanez have one also from memory. Quote
MidnightLamp Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 The Ibanez... http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/country/frame_canada.html Liquid Smooth..... Quote
GuitarGuy Posted January 25, 2006 Author Report Posted January 25, 2006 Sweet, I started building one as a prototype but I wasn't sure if it was a patented thing or not. Thanks for the info guys. Quote
Sambo Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 The hipshot trem has a bearing pivot. They're nice too Quote
Mattia Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Isn't one of Hipshot's bearings bearing pivot loaded? It's non-knife edge, anyway... Quote
Setch Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Isn't one of Hipshot's bearings bearing pivot loaded? It's non-knife edge, anyway... Kind of. It's not a knife edge, but I think the original post referred to a trem hinged on a ball bearing, like those used on a template bit. The new ibanez trem does it this way. here a shot of the hipshot: here's the ibanez: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/eg/...es/s_poivot.jpg Quote
Kevan Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 If I remember correctly, the "ball bearing" end on the Hipshot trems are actually the butt-end of a couple of dowel pins. It's KINDA ball bearing-ish. LOL Vigier also does a ball bearing type trem of their own design. Lots of different models out there now. Quote
