LordMare
Hey! This is my first post on this forum... Big hello to all! I have been reading this forum for few days now - It rules! Soo, my story goes like this: I've always thought about building something, I almost began with my project from www.18watt.com, but I quit soon because of my lack of electronics knowleage. So I began to think about building my own guitar. So here I am I think that Telecaster shaped body is one of the simpliest shapes - perfect for 1. project. I want make this project as cheap as possible (I want quality parts, wood - but no fancy quilted/flame stuff this time ) soo I thought about 52' Telecaster copy. One piece ash body, two piece neck (hardmaple for neck and maple for fingerboard). Transparently butterscotch finish and little darker finish on neck (vintage look). So what do you think guys? Will this be hard too hard for 1. project? I have few tools at home, but I intend to buy router because I don't have one. Should I get templates for this project or would plans printed to paper do the work? I would go in this direction... Thanks! (Sorry for my wierd language, I'm from EU)
ibanez_crazy
Welcome to the forum. If you want to build a tele for your 1st guitar, why not. Just a few hints before you get bombarded, If you havent done so yet, pick up melvyn hiscocks book on building electric guitars. It is a wealth of knowledge for the beginner and it will answer most questions you may have. Also use the search function before posting questions to avoid people telling you to use the search function. Happy building

Nothing's too hard given a little hard work and a lot of patience...the tele's a good choice because it should be easy to get plans or buy the full templates.
