sekler Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Hey guys, I saw a guitar made by an expperienced luthier that had this type of nut...it doesn't seem to be used a lot and to me it doesn't seem real slippery when I handle my carbon fiber rods..anyone has experience with this ? Quote
Mattia Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 It's not slipperly in a way you'll feel it. They work pretty well, although they wear faster than bone (softer). Works well on trem guitars with non-locking nuts, and I use it on those. Quote
tirapop Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Carbon fiber? Were they graphite nuts like these. I think they are thermoplastic, impregnated with graphite. Most structural carbon fiber composites use fibers cured in epoxy. Not very slippery. If the luthier was using carbon fiber, he was probably experimenting with the sound of the nut, not the slipperiness. Quote
