katatonia Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 Hey Does anyone know a decent way to get a good, accurate template done, as in my own design. Is there a better way than just drawing cos thats not really my forte. I want to make sure i have the right dimensions (you know as in general guidlines i guess, i know not all guitars have the same dimensions) and that the neck and stuff are the right length, in general just good plans. Any ideas? Josh Quote
Jehle Posted September 5, 2003 Report Posted September 5, 2003 I just laid a guitar down on top of some paper (4 sheets held together with tape) and traced around it. I would move the body around and turn it to connect point A to B with the right curve. Worked really well for me. Quote
cyberlucas Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 hi does someone know where can I find the Ibanez JS-Series Cad drawing.. thanks!!! Quote
krazyderek Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 well what kinda of design did you have in mind? it's probably easier to start with a base model (strat, les paul, sg), and then try and mix it in with another shape, that's how i did it, i did all the work on bristal board and just cut that out and traced it onto the guitar blank rough cut then sanded down to the line . The neck pocket and stuff are things you're going to have to tinker with depending on what kind of tools you have, once you get the whole guitar body made and your happy, tape some plywood to it and make a copy with a flush trim bit. Or you could make the template first by tracing the bristol board to that kinda like Jehle did, then cut out the guitar with a template bit on your router Quote
