BTW - Great to see this thread revived!

I really think this should be pinned, it's a shame to let all this info get buried.

+1. It's a great thread. I'd like to see it readily accessible.

Regards,

Rob

no reason to pin it...most of these are just links to pictures and galleries.

That's exactly what this topic is supposed to be --a handy place to post and find links to people's favorite luthiers' sites.

add the topic to your "favorites" in your browser...then you can always find it

I know this topic exists--I started it. But seeing as how I am not the only person in the world, nor the exact center of the universe, I figure pinning this would be helpful for people who don't know about the thread.

these are just a few of the links on the main page(projectguitar.com)(hint...pay special attention to the last two)

in other words...there is not enough unique info in this thread to justify another pinned topic to clutter up the top of the page...don't you understand?it should be tutorials and information pinned up there...not "inspiration"

inspiration can be picked up with a google search...

I definitely agree with that part --in fact, I don't like having any topics pinned up there, means I have to scroll down every time I come back to this site. Not really a big deal, but since I come back here several times a day, it gets a little annoying. Seems like half the screen is taken up by pinned topics already.

So I'd prefer to have a dedicated area --or a more logical place--for all of the pinned topics. Seems to me they all belong in the reference section, really.

But I disagree, I think this thread contains new information--and at least it condenses it all into a single thread. Much better than having a couple dozen threads of people pointing out their latest luthier 'finds'. And I do think that a gathering of people's favorite luthiers provides an important reference service --not just for inspiration, but also for technicals aspects as well. A picture's worth a thousand words, as they say.

Since I don't otherwise tend to spend a lot of time trawling around the web to look at luthier sites, this thread has introduced me to a ton of new ideas.

did you happen to check out the links i posted?probably 95% of all these sites posted in the thread are right there on the main site in a nice condensed version just waiting to be clicked on.might as well just put those last two links in one post, delete all of the other fifty some odd posts, close the topic, and pin it....same thing, just smaller...

oh but wait...no reason to pin what is already on the main site, always in the same place...i think we would be better served with a pinned topic saying "rule # 1...check out the main site before posting"

oh...but wait...i think that is already in the sign up agreement when you sign up for the forum.

yeah...i think the point is...this topic is only a rehashing of what is already on www.projectguitar.com

brian went through alot of effort organizing the main site.the least you guys could do is check it out once in a while...you might find something interesting...

but i know that doesn't really fit with the "i want it now, fast and easy" philosophy of the day

Time to resurrect one of my favorite Project Guitar threads. I thought the folks here might be interested in the Chris Forshage Hollowbody. It's design is influenced by the Klein Electric Guitar, the Teuffel Tesla and the Ovation Breadwinner:

I've been chatting with both Chris and one of his newest customers, Dr. Marc Ybaben of the jazz group The Marc Why Group who've generously shared a bunch of information on the design. For those who are interested, I've posted a couple of articles about the guitar:

The Forshage Hollowbody Electric Guitar and Building the Forshage Hollowbody Guitar - Making the Neck. An upcoming article will cover the guitar body construction. It's always fun to see how different luthiers approach issues and Chris has been particularly great about sharing his approach.

Robert

Let's add another - Check out Rick Toone's Orchid bass guitar and its unusual trapezoidal profile neck.
