African Mahogany

Recommended Posts

It says 'African mahogany', which 9 times out of 10 means Khaya mahogany (Khaya ivorensis, quite possibly). I think Khaya makes a fantastic body wood, much much cheaper than honduran, tone's very much the same ballpark. As for necks...depends on the piece. Some can be a bit 'flexy', although I've built several guitars with Khaya necks that have held up perfectly (I use a pair of carbon fibre rods and a dual action truss rod in my necks, for the record).
