RCG Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 I've a project where I'm thinking about removing a maple fretboard. Ive seen an example for removing a rosewood board, but not a maple-- anyone have any words of advice or instruction for this? Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Take your time, I've removed dozens of fingerboards. Maple is probably easier than rosewood or ebony because it isn't as brittle Quote
RCG Posted September 13, 2003 Author Report Posted September 13, 2003 Scott, Can you offer some insight as to how you did this? Quote
Brian Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Pretty much the same way no matter what kind of wood Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Follow the tutorial on the main site it's very complete. if you have a problem, come back here and ask for help Quote
Setch Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Just be sure you've actually got a fretboard - if it's a one piece maple neck with a skunk stripe you could have a *very* frustrating time trying to find the joint Quote
