Cool site !

Have any of ya'll ( that's a southern word ) had any expierience building from the kits available? I am interested in putting one together, but I'm not quite sure how I'd deal with a sloppy neck fit :D or something equally as gruesome, thanks.

Yep, I've built a kit before. You can have a peek at my kit job, and a neck replacement here...

My one word of advice in the kits: DON'T TRUST PREDRILLED HOLES.

Howdy, and welcome to the club.

Another alternative is to put a kit together from the folks at Warmoth or Stewmac. Both places can get you all the pieces and what not that you need, and higher quality than you would otherwise see in most kits.

I put together a kit for myself, using wood products from one company and electronics from another. You can see it, and other projects, Here

Have fun and take lots of pics.

Yes, a guitar kit is a great cheap way to see if you will actually enjoy working with guitars. It's a great learning experience, since you can actually work on it without worrying about ruining a high priced guitar.

Here are somethings I learned when I first started guitar building, by building a kit.

1. Put everything together to make sure it fits properly before you start any kind of painting.

2. If your gonna buy better tuners for the guitar, make sure the tuner peg holes are the right width or if you do like I did and paint it first, you might ruin it by finding out that it won't fit.. lol... then you'll end up drilling, and your finish will likely chip.

3. How to properly slot the nut.

4. How to assemble the electronics and hardware.

5. The proper way to paint, and found out what kinda paint does and doesn't work.

6. Polishing and finishing a guitar so it will look good.

I'd recommend anyone who is starting out to build a kit, simply because if you don't like it you won't be out alot of money. That way you don't buy a bunch of tools and never use them if you decide this isn't your cup of tea.

And the Saga brand Telestyle and Stratstyle kits will be back on the market the end of this month, the PRSstyle ones are leaning more towards the end of December.

Hooray!

I NEED one of those PRS kits.

Any idea if the price will change?

And uk shipping gonna be the same?

Actually, anyone built this PRS kit?

Any good?

Matt
