jaycee Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 (edited) HI Guys. I have 95% finished my neck. It is Ash with an American Oak fingerboard. I am going to tung oil the fretboard. I just want some confirmation on the neck. I would like it as smooth as poss. From what I have read "grain filler" brings the rest of the wood up to the hieght of the grain, levels the timber out. (Not having used it before, I just used to put lots of coats of varnish on my work until it felt level) I want a nice natural finish so I was thinking of grain filling the neck with clear filler and then sand it with a 300-400 grit paper then start applying the varnish until happy. Its the grain filling bit I'd like assistance on Cheers Edited August 2, 2006 by jaycee Quote
