TenderSurrender
Hey guys! What would be the best way to re-cover my Marshall 4x12 cab? Its beginning to rip in places and has lost its colour in places (1992) and i want to refinish it. Is it possible to just paint it? what paint should i use? Cheers guys!! ~~ TS ~~
DreamSeller
Depends, for originality cover it with vinyl, Stain would look good but I would assume the cabinet is MDF and that would not work. Maybe jsut give it a few coats with some spray paint? -Dream
Drak
I've recovered many amps, and I re-did my Marshall 4-10 cab. It was the next hardest recover I ever did compared to my old Ampeg Reverborocket, which was THE hardest. I would either just strip it and stain it or have a pro recover it for you, it isn't a good cab for someone who has never recovered a cab before, I had already done 6-7 amps before I did the Marshall, and it was still a -very- difficult recover to do, comparatively speaking. Hey Drak havent spoken to you in a while I think i might just take it to a pro then, Its not that bad but its bad enough to annoy me, and when im gigging 6 or 7 times a month, i can only see it getting worse as it gets chucked into the van each time Cheers! ~~ TS ~~
brutas
Having worked at an upholstery shop for 6 years, it sounds easy enough. I have never done a amp though. If the people that have had problems recovering it could explain the problems they had I would be glad to help resolve them.
