sexybeast
Well the good news is that the Tele neck and Strat body went together without a hitct. In fact it turned out to be my favorite guitar because it plays so nice. I just need a nice Swineshead Xbucker in there and I'm all set. Problem is that the adjustment screws in the saddles sit high and tear my hand up rather nastily. Anyone have some solutions for that? I imagine I can buy shorter screws, but maybe you guys have a cheaper fix? Yes?
mammoth guitars
Sounds like the neck pocket is too deep. You can grind down the screws versus trying to find alternates.
sexybeast
Sounds like the neck pocket is too deep. You can grind down the screws versus trying to find alternates. Probably is, since this was thrown together with spare parts. Any tips on how to do it without wrecking the threads?
GuitarGuy
Grind the bottom off of the screw, then grind a small chamfer on the bottom end at about the angle of the thread pitch. That should fix the thread that gets messed up during grinding. if you're at all worried about it, run the proper sized die down the thread to fix up the bottom. It is usally not necessary though. mammoth guitars
Any tips on how to do it without wrecking the threads? Grind off only the number of threads above the saddle on the bottom of the screw then screw them back in from the bottom of the saddle. You could use a die if needed as GuitarGuy mentioned but you should not need it.

brian d
Or you could add a shim in the neck pocket to slightly angle or raise the neck, which in turn will lower the action, and you'll have to raise the saddles to compensate, which means screwing the saddle screws in. That way you don't mess with the saddle screws and leave the options open for later. Regards, Brian.
