Ledzendrix1128 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 So im hooking up my record player and theres the like double horned prong (im guessing is a ground). I dont have a typical slot for it since modern-day recievers arent typicaly designed for record players. So my solution was to tape the ground to the bottom of the reciever. I figured that this was logical since I would imagine that the bottom of the reciever is grounded itself. Im listening to it right now, and the sound quality is fine (for an old record player). But I would just love for someone to say "omg, you idiot, pull it out now before you fry your reciever." Thanks in advance, - Louis Quote
crafty Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 You're probably fine. I would just secure it to one of the screws holding together the chassis if one is available. Quote
Primal Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 If its what I think it is, that "prong" is actually meant to be used with a screw rather than a slot. Here is an example: http://www.ideaphile.com/bmw/v1/t25-ground.jpg Quote
Maurits Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 My reciever is only about ten years old and still has ground at the back. You have a good chance of actually having one as well, either one like Primal posted or a thumbscrew type thingie. Quote
al heeley Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Yep, my turntable has one of those but it's a fork not a donut. It attaches to a knurled knob at the back of the amp chassis. It is of course the earth wire. Quote
Ledzendrix1128 Posted August 26, 2006 Author Report Posted August 26, 2006 mines a fork, and no it doesnt have that screw, i had it on my old reciever, but not on this one, but i just moved to college, and i didnt take the turntable so GAHHH Quote
