brian d
Anyone familiar with this router? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Millers-Falls-2HP-V...1QQcmdZViewItem If it's not recommended, which models are? What should I look for in general? (I have a cheap Hyundai router, but it's time to upgrade) Cheers, Brian.
oz tradie
Looks good, I can't comment on the build quality as I've never seen one of those before now. I like the price though, and the hp rating. What are you going to be using it for mainly? Do you need to plunge rout or just general stuff. Do you need a large capacity router or maybe something smaller? All valid thoughts. I use a Makita 3612 1/2" router. Strong as an ox, but maybe 3 to 4 times the price of the Milers-falls router. I also use a 1/4" Makita laminator router. close to $250 aud. With those I've got all bases covered. Good luck with the search, Stu
prs man
never seen one. A good router is worth its weight in gold. I use a dewalt plunge router with dust collector and I have 3 porter cable router and never had trouble with any of them. I guess it would depend on what you want to do and how much you will be routing. I use mine all the time building solid bodies for guitar and bass. makita is another good router. you will want to stay with a 1/4 and 1/2 collets. the 1/2 router bits are more $$ but if your routing body shapes this is much easier. the 1/4 router bits are good for pickup cavities and neck routing. Good luck hope that helps Edited August 27, 2006 by prs man
dash
never seen that particular brand before, but my motto is "buy cheap, buy twice". i have a hitachi router, been used and abused for the last 12 - 13 years, and no signs of stopping it yet. course to replace it, i'd be looking at about $400 but as they say, you get what you pay for. cheers darren
fryovanni
I just picked up a little Hitachi router. Very nice little tool so far. I have never had a bad Hitachi tool. Here is the one I picked up (if available you might want to give these a look).- Variable speed-Click Single Speed-Click Single Speed w/o plunge base-click Peace,Rich
