Doeringer Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Have you every sprayed before? What wood are you using? The straight answer is any amount you want as long as the wood is protected. There are many opinions about how many coats is the perfect amount. If you want that deep glossy look, then at the very least ten coats on a closed grain wood. If you are asking how much you should buy, I would say a quart is enough, again depending on several details. Maybe one of the paint experts can chime in too. Good Luck! Quote
Angus89 Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 well I have finished tables and small wood furniture and I finished one guitar but it was just a disaster I got the lacquer from reranch and I put 10 coats on it and used 2 cans of lacquer and was just having sand throughs like no other so I must not have used enough lacquer per coat cause I follwed the directions at reranch and even the dude who owns reranch and he said 2 cans should be enough. AlGeeEater Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 2 cans should be enough, are you sure you were building the coats thick enough? How far away from the surface where you spraying? Chris Quote
Angus89 Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 I don't know for sure I was close enough so that the lacquer wasn't dry when it hit the guitar I really don't know what I did. Quote
