Adam
I need to know if M8 x 1.25 the standard thread size for the large tune-o-matic bridge posts as found on metric hardware fitted 335 style/Les Paul type models. I have a Sheraton (10 years old or so i guess) which is probably Japanese or Korean made so it has metric hardware and the bridge really needs changing. I want to change the posts too, also there is a roller bridge that i may get (as i want to add a Bigsby) and also a Gotoh tunematic supplied with posts with this thread size. Does anyone know if it is standard that all these large posts have the M8 x 1.25 thread? I really would rather not have to replace the shims that sit in the body!! I'm hoping that my inserts/shims are of this thread size, i have tried measuring the pitch of the thread and it looks kind of like 1.25 mm but if it's a standard thing then i don't have to worry, right? Excuse my ignorance, i am a newbie after all ... Thanks
mammoth guitars
M8 x 1.25 is standard for Gotoh large posts and probably some of the Asian copies.
Adam
M8 x 1.25 is standard for Gotoh large posts and probably some of the Asian copies. Thanks for the tip, it does seem to be that most large post tune-o-matics have M8 x 1.25, as you mentioned, the Gotoh ones do. I may go for a Wilkinson roller bridge now as i'm fitting a Bigsby B7, i'm gonna give it a try anyway... The Wilkinson has M8 x 1.25 posts as far as i can tell.
