mullmuzzler Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Can somebody post exact dimensions for DiMarzio 7 string p-up (ToneZone7 to be exact)? THANX mullmuzzler | OSSMT Quote
G_urr_A Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Sorry to not actually help, but I think you'd be better of mailing DiMarzio and asking. I think that would be quicker (since there probably aren't many of us who have 7-strings at all, and even fewer with DiMarzios in them), but I'm just guessing. Quote
EKG Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 I have a Tone Zone 7 at home I am getting ready to install....let me see if I can' whip up a little diagram this evening. Most, if not all, Dimarzio's 7 string pups have a flat bottom. So for direct mounting, no need to route deeper for the mounting "ears" or tabs. Quote
monkyboy777 Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Up late and really bored.... Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 I wouldn't take the height in that drawing as Gospel, I've seen Dimarzio 6 string pickups with different Bobbin Heights. Steve's Special vs. Air Norton for example. The steve's special has a way taller Bobbin Measure your pickup to make sure of the height but the rest of the drawing looks ok to me Quote
EKG Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Very nice MonkyBoy! As I was gonna post....I saw yours.......good job Quote
monkyboy777 Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 The height is based on a Tone Zone 7....I've got an old X2N that is taller (not sureexactly how tall that one is). Thanks EKG. Quote
krazyderek Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 every Dimarzio i have is 17mm from top to the bottom of the base plate sure would be nice if all the numbuckers were make with flat wings.... would make routing a hell of alot easier anyone know where i can get some replacement baseplates? mullmuzzler Posted October 1, 2003 Author Report Posted October 1, 2003 monkyboy777, THANX for the drawing and dims, man! So, to sum this up: I'll be putting ToneZone 7 & AirNorton 7 in my project ax. They will be direct-mounted. If I understood correctly, dimensions vary from model to model. What about 6-string versions? Do they need deeper routing for the ears? mullmuzzler | OSSMT Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 every Dimarzio i have is 17mm from top to the bottom of the base plate do You have an Air Norton and a Steve's Special? if you do, then measure again I think you'll be surprised Quote
krazyderek Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 every Dimarzio i have is 17mm from top to the bottom of the base plate do You have an Air Norton and a Steve's Special? if you do, then measure again I think you'll be surprised only a steve's special, it's 17 mm too, unless you're including the polepeices sticking out the bottom? Which i plan to either cut off and/or drill a series of little holes for.. so i'm not counting those for routing depth's.. Quote
Scott Rosenberger Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 ok then the Air norton is smaller not the other way around Quote
krazyderek Posted October 1, 2003 Report Posted October 1, 2003 ooooh smaller... i think the original paf's are thinner too, it's like 14mm Quote
krazyderek Posted October 2, 2003 Report Posted October 2, 2003 the dimarzio Breed model is also 14mm thick not including the screws sticking out from the bottom Quote
