metalnutt
im sorry if this is in the wrong place but im not used to this forum yet when i play certain fretts they seem to hit the same resonance as the bridge and the bridge starts to ring out is this just due to old strings or is it terminal

jbkim
You didn't mention what kind of bridge you have (tune-o-matic, fixed, floyd, etc.) If it's a floyd type, I seem to recall a Brian tip about stringing cotton in the springs... or you could try a piece of spongy foam underneath the springs. Saber
I stuffed a strip of foam rubber inside each of my trem springs.
Brian
Chances are thats what your hearing is the resonance from the trem springs vibrating back. Cotton balls or even whats suggested above should do the trick to quite it down without hurting the performance.
syxxstring
heard of a neat trick one time where someone put a single coil in the trem cavity to pick up the resonance on the springs. Have no idea how it sounded but ill try it at some point in the future im sure.
PaulNeeds
I once read that Zappa used a Barcus Berry transducer on the neck to pick up finger noises and other tones. Think it's the guitar his son has been trying to sell for the past few years.
