Kevin-B
Hi everyone, Im about to start my first guitar and Im a little scared, since not only is this the first guitar im building, its also going to be my first electric guitar, ive always liked acoustics. Im starting to look at the parts im going to order, and I think I know all the parts that I need. I was thinking about installing a tremolo bridge, rather than a plain one, since ive seen some Tremolo Bridges for not too much more expensive than a regular one. Is installing a tremolo bridge very hard? If it is hard, I probably wont go with one, but it would be fun to have. Thank you, Kevin
gazaa
it shouldnt be too much more trouble than a non-trem bridge, although it depends on what type of tremolo you were thinking of. if its something youre going to use, go for it. Drak
Go to StewMac and buy yourself a set of router templates for whatever type of tremolo bridge you're going to install, and their Tremolo Installation DVD. If you want insurance against screwing something up and doing a real nice clean correct job of it, and learning a lot while having fun doing it, that's as good as it gits pilgrim. Oh, buy yourself a roll of their double-sided tape too, to hold your templates down. I would also HIGHLY recommend buying their 3/8" router template bit, it is a good bit, it's exactly what you need. The DVD will cover a million questions you don't even know enough to ask about yet, it will pull you thru the darkness and into the light.
