bscur Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I've decided my current strat shape project will be a 12 string. What types of pickups work well in 12 string electrics? I have a set of Fralin Humbuckers in the garage, but would single coils work better? Are there normally two or three pickups? It'll be alder (probably semi-hollow with a maple cap). Thanks Quote

Robert_the_damned Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 I'm currently gathering parts for a 12 string build. My veiw is that you can use any pickups you want! I've seen 12 strings with just about every pickup imaginable (strat single coils, Rickenbacker single coils, humbuckers, mini humbuckers and tri-sonics). of course the fact its a 12 string will make a slight differance to pickup choice (obviously you want a nice clear pickup that's not going to turn into mud as soon as you play the first couplet of strings!). I'm going for a humbucker and some P90's myself but I bet strat singles would work fine too. Quote
