jsullysix Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 it's an ic-500 which is the cool iceman body, not that ridiculous one that you can get now, it has a set neck, black chrome hardware (tom/stoptail), pearloid binding on body, neck & headstock. if i didn't love the shape so much, i would have sold it years ago, as it's poorly balanced (super neck heavy, even though the strap knob is in a good spot), and it's taken 4 pickup swaps to find something that will make the (b)asswood body sound anything like a guitar should. it's definitely the only ibenhad i'll own... (sorry, i know that this may not be the place to share those feelings...) imo, they should have kept the mahogany body construction of the 70s, or at least used alder...you can't expect someone to shell out over $800 on a guitar that is made of (b)asswood. not sure what you're askin me to do though, i'm guessing you want to eventually have a template? i can take a few pix for ya if that will help you make one. i know the nut width is 1 3/4, but i'll measure the scale length and body thickness this evening if i have time tonight... which i doubt as it's 8:20pm, and i should have left work 2 hours ago... ugh. more realistically, i'll try to get to it this week. sully Quote

I believe it has 22 frets, right!?). I am thinking of using Iceman's headstock shape for my project cause I think that it is very good looking three-per-side variation on the subject (Jackson's shape on the archtop is also nice looking headstock, if you know what I mean). jsullysix Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 okay, i'll try to get it together for ya this weekend... i'm not an autocad artist, so i can't help ya there, but i can at least get you the pics you need, and i'll take some measurements for ya. are you looking to completely recreate one? warmoth also has those bodies if it would make life easier for ya. the pickups i went thru were stock (which sounded flat), then a 59 (not enough oomph) went in the bridge, then a distortion (too hot and brittle in that guitar), then a gibson something or other (back to 59-ville), and now a jb is in there, and for now it seems okay. the neck pickup has been a jazz, and imo, it's the greatest neck pickup ever. admittedly i don't play it much, but it's a nice playing guitar that's just too lightweight for my taste. sully Quote
