Has anyone used this style of bridge? I'm currently doing a build in the Mocking Bird body style using walnut for the body. The neck is 25 1/2 inch scale 22 frets in maple/rosewood; bolt on. I still haven't decided on the bridge. Whether roller/tailpiece, roller string through body and now I found this HipShot (Stew-Mac). Can anyone see problems with this style of bridge? At first I was leaning towards a Schaller roller tuneamatic (custom string spacing adjustable) with strings through body. But I'm little leary about the angle of the strings meeting the back of the bridge without having rubbing problems. I kind of like the look of the HipShot Grand Piano.

Any ideas or thoughts?

You'll have to watch if you put a tune o matic on a bolt on neck - those necks tend to be parallel with the body and those bridges are talled than the standard fixed bridges/vintage trems. You could of course sink the tune o matic...

All above are important things to keep in mind. But as far as the baby grand bridges go, they are golden! Have one on my first build, one about to go on another build that's been sitting waiting for a buffing for MONTHS, and one being planned on being used on an upcoming build. I'm in love with them, and there's a number of others who are too; Scott French being a big user.

been experimneting with the h.b.g., what is the best neck angle you have found with them?

Depends entirely on the guitar shape, scale length, fretboard thickness. Work it out on a piece of paper - a forum search will reveal how to do it, alternatively, buy a copy of Make Your own electric Guitar by Melvyn Hiscock.
