GuitArtMan Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 Sorry if this has been asked before. I've always heard you should sand with the grain of the wood. However, when it comes to final polishing you are supposed to do it in a random circular fashion. With the finer grades of sand paper (say 1000 grit and finer) do you ever sand in circles? Thanks Bob Quote
rhoads56 Posted January 13, 2007 Report Posted January 13, 2007 You only need to sand with the grain, when you are sanding the actual wood, because the cross grain scratches show up in the wood surface. Any other time, sand however you like, just use a block, and keep it consistant. I prefer to sand with the grain for the first coat or two, just incase you sand through to the wood by accident. Quote
