Electronics will be SDuncans JB-Jazz. TOM bridge, string thru, All that is needed is to carve the round contour to the control knobs, wait to get the bridge rout and install, glue and shape the heel and drill for the ferrules.

Comments WILL be welcomed!!!

With that nicely rounded body, that one square corner on that control cover cavity seems to clash a bit. I would have designed that differently.

RGGR,

I was going to!!! I made the drawing and did both templates for the rout and the cover, but it suddenly hit me, "I already had chambered this a little bit", if I make a nice round cavity to access all the controls then Ihad a chance of making this guitar a little neck heavy, so Idecided against it in the last moment!

Hey, how about you try that new Dave Mustaine pickup set? I hear it's supposed to have the same resonance as the passive JB/59 setup with the benefits of actives.

I saw them on the net the other day! I haven't bought the passives yet, but I don't have a passive guitar as of now, and this "was" going to be the one!

I will keep it in mind by the time I have to buy the pups. I want to get 2 guitars set, one active and 1 passive to "take" along when showing them up...

is about 3 degrees, I never care about exact measurements as long as when the guitar is laying flat on a surface it doesn't rest on the headstock. I used a rude "Myka style" neck jig... a 2X4 planned "true" with some 1" scraps on one ond until I got the right angle. The used my router siting on a 1X6X3 piece of poplar... I can't make a fixed one,(I got the plans and I will make it of aluminum) because I PCS (change places) a lot on th Army and I'm weight restricted as of now!

I have made 2 necks. They were both playable, but they were both made with tools that I don't have here. I made them with Hyunsu while in Korea... all made with hand tools, carving knife, spokeshave, sanding blocks.... so it is not a need for specialty tools, just the basics... as of now I don't even own a decent rasp! If I was in MD like before I went to Korea, the wood shop on base had everything you need! I only payed $2 hr, here in Ft Hood, they got an even bigger shop, meet the guy who runs it, don't like his attitude, plus they charge $10 hr and I have to take a stupid class for $15 before I can used it. I guess that once I get back to were I want to go I will be making necks again...

maiden...you can get a good half round rasp with a medium and fine tooth section on both sides...about 4" long...for about $20 from ace hardware..

http://woodworker.com/cgi-bin/FULLPRES.exe...mp;LARGEVIEW=ON

the one on the bottom...124-835

i use my bandsaw to get the rough shape(square) and the file is ALL i use to profile the neck...it weighs about 6 oz i think and is very comfortable

I have bought 2 of those, one cheapo, and one Craftsman, and neither cut the way the ones I used in Hyunsu's house! But the ones he have are like the ones at the top of the picture! He profilead a neck almost complete in about 15 minutes using a carving knife, spokeshave and the rasp. It took me about twice the time but I did a good job for my first neck, he said he was impressed because his first ones were not even straight!

I want to get a nice set of tools, at least had tools so I can take with me everywere the Army send me! I got my first template set from Ronny so I will use that one to get started and let it go from there!

I use that same rasp as well for fine work. It's a great rasp. But I recommend a bigger coarse rasp or a microplane to remove bulk amounts of wood.

Now Scott, Why am I upset that you posted this now??? Anyway, I went with the one I did after talking with David, he gavce me a few pointers on chambering, since I have never attempted one! I just did a little bit, on the future, I will be experimenting a lttle more!
