Melcher73
I am going to stain a maple Tele neck with a dark Ebony. I have had problems in the past staining maple and other hard dense woods. I have never used any gel dyes but I hear they work better. Any idea before I booger up a good neck? Thanks. Dino
Any idea before I booger up a good neck? Thanks. Yeah ... buy another neck with an ebony fretboard. Seriously ... you'll never get the look you want using stain or dye. JMO
GGW
Maple is very hard to get to take stain. Try india ink and see if that looks good enough. That's the blackest I've found. I did it to hard ash and it worked but I think Maple is even harder to stain.
