Gonzo Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Hi there guys! The scalloping tutorial gave me strenght to go for it! But I have a question. I've been talking to a Luthier about this and he told me that if I do the scalloping then it would be imposible to replace the frets once they wear out. Is it True? If it is I was thinking about leaving a small "space" between the fret and the scalloping, kind like the Blackmoore type but much shorter and in both sides. I though it would help (at least in the first frets). What do you think? Quote
WezV Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Not impossible, just more difficult- potentially A LOT more difficult. It would be real easy to screw up a scallopped fretboard when refretting. Quote
Jon Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 If you scallop from side to side all the way to the frets, yes, it will be nearly impossible to refret. I'm sure if you leave a little room and take your time, you should be fine. Or just use stainless steel frets! Quote
