prle
Does anybody know the angle for the Les Paul headstock where it comes off the neck? Hi the head angle is 13 and the neck angle is 3,5 this is 100000% i wish you the good building of your LP im from Slovenia and i will build the LP from mahagony
Setch
The head angle is traditionally 17 degrees. I think this very steep angle is one of the reasons LP's are so prone to head breaks. I use 13 degrees, abd scarf joint my headstocks to avboid this problem.
Acousticraft
Yes it is 17 degrees and from what I have read Gibson tried a lesser angle and went back again to 17 degrees. It apparently sustains better with that angle?
Mattia
Cut the nut slot properly, and all shall be fine. I tend to shoot for 13 to 15 degrees. Mostly 15.

It apparently sustains better with that angle? Hmmm, more like the purists think that it sustains better with that angle. I love my LP to death and I really do believe that it's the best guitar in the world for me, but there are little issues that I just wish Gibson would improve on the Standard and sell it as a player's guitar while keeping the historic line for the purists, who don't even buy the Standard line anyway. They almost got it right with the new GT. Kinda like Fender with the modern American, Deluxe, and Ultra series and the Reissues.
