darky
Hi, im trying to paint my guitar to black, and heres what i've tryed out: i've sanded it well 'till the wood, i used a white color as a base, and then black. until this part, the results are ok. the problems begins after . i read in the forum that i should sand after every painting to take out the imperfections, and i tryed it, but what it does is worse! it ruins the paint... i know that im doing something wrong, hope you guys tell me what the 2nd problem is after the paint dry, varnish. i dont know how i can put it in the paint, and to make it smooth. and other thing, can you tell me how to polish?? i dont understand it quite well either thx to all
GUITARGOD
I'm only doing my very first rebuild including paiting on an old guitar of mine and I got ahold of a friend of mine that has painted many cars and has all the stuff to do it, I think that is the only way to get a good paint job is to pay the cashish and use good car paint. We've layed down two good coats of dupont primer, sanded it with i think 1500 or 2000 grit and then layed down two bass coats of the bass color then cleared it and it looked great. However we planed on sanding the clear at that point to take out a couple specs of dust but have found that we have to start all over because of a seam that showed up after it sat for a while. But up to that point the pait job looked like it did when i bought the thing, paint it like you'd paint a car.
