bluzzman Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I hope you will excuse my lack of technical abilities when asking for this info but in my 40 years of playing guitar this is the one area of the instrument I have shyed away from. With that said I recently bought an Agile 2800 and replaced the origenal humbuckers with two DiMarzios The PAF Joe in the bridge and a Fred in the neck , that was not too hard but I would like to be able to split these to get single coil tones. Could someone give me some guidance in this area : switches, pots , resistance , wireing ,etc, etc Thanks guys I really do appreciate any help. Quote
suicidecustom Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 you will need a mini toggle, or a push/pull pot and replace one of your pots. this link will tell you how to wire your pickups to the switch (wire colors are correct as they come from dimarzio) dimarzio Quote
Acousticraft Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 You wont get a true single coil sound only a big drop in volume when coil cut. I did that on my first electric but IMHO it was a waste of time as I preferred the richer humbucker sound to the kind of thin sound you get. Quote
bluzzman Posted March 25, 2007 Author Report Posted March 25, 2007 Thanks for the info and the insite. I came upon this on ebay dose anybody have experiance with this unit. Or an opinion from a technical point of view. Quote
bluzzman Posted March 25, 2007 Author Report Posted March 25, 2007 OOPPSS forgot to add the link . http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=008 Quote
USAF1989 Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 There is a ton of information on the net about modding pups, etc. Try this place out for some ideas: Info & Schematics You'll also be able to find shcematics/layouts for boosters, etc all around. If you can solder, you can make a simple booster/tone-shaping circuit and install it in your guitar. Have fun experimenting! Quote
SwitchfootOnPRS Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 Ok... Sortakinda off topic but can the opposite of humbucker coil tapping be done; take two singles so that when you put them in series you get a humbuckerish sound or paralell for TRUE single coil....? Thanks SF on PRS Quote
CrazyManAndy Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 There are a lot of schematics out there for switching between series and parallel with single coil pups. Check out guitarnuts.com website and forum, they've got a lot of that kind of stuff. CMA Quote
