DaveNJ
Ok, all of my StewMac stuff arrives tomorrow, so I'm going to get started on my flame maple capped basswood body. The questions I have are: 1. The maple top is relatively thin - only about 1/8 of an inch. I want to do the faux binding thing, but do I extend it down on the side past the maple into the basswood (say, 1/4") or do I just run it down to the end of the maple? 2. I'm finishing the basswood sides and back with the StewMac Black Gloss Lacquer, but I'm staining the top with the water based TransTint stains. What order should I do everything - I'm thinking this: 1. Wet & light sand the top with 220 to clean it up 2. Tape off the faux binding 3. Stain the top - sand back - restain 4. Spray the whole guitar with san & seal 5. Retape the binding & cover the top 6. Spray the back & sides with the black lacquer 7. Spray the clear coats Now, do I sand back the black on the sides and back when it dries? Thanks for the help, all - I'm trying to piece all of this together from different sites and I just want to make sure I have it right...
