hey matt, where do you get 8 string parts? i have been wanting to build one, but i cant find any parts.

ebenezer shred is bang on, in the past year 8-string guitars have become much more comon and parts are very easy to come by. kahler and hipshot do make some cool stuff but you can also have some custom bridges made by ETS

http://www.ets-hardware.com/

And if EMG is not your thing there loads of guys that will make you custom stuff, also halo guitars offers a wide range of

8-string pickups

And this is really cool!!! check out my soon to be string nut,

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d177/dea...ar/IMG_1800.jpg

Its a type of nut thats used as and ivory substitute there called

Tagua Nuts (hear is a cool link) http://www.turtlefeathers.com/text/natural...ucts/tagua.html

A guy at my shop uses them to on his hand made walking sticks, hes going to teach me how to cut and glue them in to one and than shape it in to the string nut

Lookin good Matt! This is going to be one wicked looking axe. Can't wait to see some brighter pics. I know how that goes, I keep forgetting to take any pics with my good camera. I have one good one and one that sits in the garage for progress photos.

Anyhow, that tagua nut looks cool. My first thought was damn that looks tasty, lol, seriously, it looked like a giant macadamia nut. I believe Gilmer has a page where they sell a couple different nuts, but I had no idea one could be used for such things. Really cool stuff. Definitely keep the progress pics coming on both the guitar and processing of the tagua nut. J

:DB) ...What? How? Tagua? You're using a nut as..... a nut. This blows my mind.

If it's an ivory substitute, then it's nowhere near edible..... right?

Haha, I wondered the same thing. When I checked one of the links, it said once its dried properly it hardens like that, so fresh I'd imagine it's food, just make sure you stay regular after eating it :D

I really like the design of the guitar!!! I'd buy one from you if you'd sell them B) Very nice and clean work!

BUT... the pickup... oh man, it really is not my kind of thing. The guitar has such beatiful curved shapes, even the bridge is nice and sleek and not fully squared off and it follows the width of the fretboard. But that big square wide speedbump in the middle of the guitar doesn't do the guitar it's justice IMO.

Normal humbucker designs are always as wide as the fretboard, with added ears only. These kind of pickups look soooo much wider because the ears are integrated into the design. Very clean and modern... works on some guitars, not this one :D

It's just a matter of taste and if you like this more, the hell with me, its your guitar :D

Im 50 50 on EMGs and I do see what your saying about the emg on this build but this pickup came up and it was a good deal and Im helping a freind out by buying it, after this one im working on a lace wood body that will have a bit more fret acces and Im thinking about passive picups on that build also I want a single coil at the neck
