Floyd Bridge Part

I'm looking for a way to cut the block (I think it's called the tone block?) where the strings attach so that it will be slightly less in length.

I don't have access to many metal working tools so if I can't cut it, I would like to see if I can buy a shorter one somewhere. Anyone know if this is possible?

If you have a NAPA autoparts place near to you they usually have a machine shop or know where one is that will do it fairly inexpensive, plus you can get them to redrill the end for the springs.

I've cut one myself before using a hacksaw and trust me it took way to long to do. Then it took 4 drill bit's to put the holes back in, I kept breaking them off.

I can see it now, we're all going to bug our local Napa dealers for use of their machine shops. :D

Do what I'm gonna do, let it stick out as far as it likes! Sometimes feels strange (especially when you can do dives by moving the guitar to the left.... :D ), but it doesn't bother me much...

my floyd actually wouldn't return properly to tune until i cut the block so that the springs lined up correctly with the spring claw... now that it's the right size it's perfect.... i'm suprised you don't have problems with yours
