wickerwolf Posted April 13, 2007 Report Posted April 13, 2007 Hey would something like this Variable caps be usable in a custom guitar circuit? (Eg, in a varitone etc so different tones can be dialed in) Quote
micpoc Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 It probably would work. But it looks like it might be rather large, and would it offer any advantage over using the standard varitone / rotary switch implementation? Quote
curtisa Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 Hmmmm...don't think it will work. The range of the variable capcitance in those units is usually in the order of 10pF to 100pF or so. The capacitance is so small that it becomes unusable for guitar work - they're ideally suited for circuits that operate in the hundreds or thousands of KHz region (ie radio), not audio circuits.
