Most, if not all, of the "voice" is in the pickup. Besides that, the preamp. The rest of the bass is pretty standard Fender-style stuff. I'm a guitar guy, so I don't know the standard length from the bridge bass pickups go, but it's worth a measurement/comparison, at least.
