Fernandes Revelle Project

Recommended Posts

hey guys i'm new to the forum and i'm kind of in a bind. I bought a fernandes Ravelle that's been stripped of all electronics and i'm tryin to make my dream guitar a reality. i'm a huge KISS fan and i love the shattered mirror guitar that Silvertone did for Paul. Unfortunatly these guitars are discontinued and rare to find. So putting the shattered mirror on a Ravelle seemed like a close replica. Right now i have taken all hardware off and i just don't know what to do next. i want to leave the black color on the sides and back. i guess i just need to sand the front of the body down. does anyone have experience of doing a restore with a cracked mirror finish?

Contact HuntinDoug on the forum. He produces shattered mirror tops. http://www.parableguitars.com

Well that page is under construction but i would kind of like to do this with my own craftsmanship. its one of those "wow i built my dream guitar" kind of things. i know it sounds cheesy but i want it to be something i can take a lot of pride in. just need some tips on how to get started.

I pulled this up in the search function at the top/right of this page. The Vintage page has the story of the making of the original Cracked Mirron Iceman, its a good read. Hope it helps -Vinny

Heres the 'making of' story:

Search 'Iceman' here and a bunch of posts come up.

My concern is that this is a carved top guitar. if i put 1/8" acrylic mirror on it, will i have to route the top down an 1/8 or can i just lay the mirror on the bare wood?
