borge Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 im thinking about putting an ibanez s1 single coil from the mid position of a h-s-h ibanez into the bridge of a mexi squire strat as its a bit hotter than the stock pu, will it be the right polarity to cancel hum when the mid and bridge are selected? thanks Quote
Setain Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) There is no way to be certain with out checking out the polarity of all 3 pickups. Or, I suppose, you could take the pup out of the Ibanez and see if it's pole pieces are attracted to the pole pieces of the middle strat pups. (Did that make any sence?) Some strats have been made with 2 pups north facing up, and some have been made the exact opposite. Its completely random. Edited June 6, 2007 by Setain Quote
borge Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 that was fast! thanks. the s1 pole pieces are attracted to the middle pu so its all go. thanks again Quote
borge Posted June 8, 2007 Author Report Posted June 8, 2007 its all wired up and the bridge + middle pos is thin and lacking bass (out of phase?) and not hum canceling is there anything i can do? wire reversal? Quote
