Daniel Sorbera Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 I would like to get into building pedals, and I figure I'll start with a simple distortion pedal. Anyone have a schematic of a good sounding pedal? (Man I miss LoveKraft right now R.I.P.) Quote
hooglebug Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 dont know what any are lik cos i havent made any, but theres lots on here general guitar gadgets Quote
weezerboy Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 for your first, rather than making your own PCB, stripboard may be an easier option. http://aronnelson.com/gallery (some of them are better than others) http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?board=6.0 thats quite good too, aimed at beginners. Samba Pa Ti Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 fuzz face is simple to make, hardly any parts and a decent sound, i recommend stripboard also (but id use a breadboard first) just to get the circuit working before soldering. Quote

I disagree, it only takes a few attempts to get the etching process down. PCBs are a heck of a lot easier to build on, plus its a LOT easier if you need to switch out a part. Quote
weezerboy Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 copper clad board + ferric chloride + transfer sheets VS one piece of stripboard. ok, so maybe not easier...but definately cheaper...and if you find out that you suck at making pedals then you're not left with random chemicals etc. Quote
rhoads56 Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 www.buildyourownclone.com Of course, im biased, because im the aussie distributor I suggest people start off with a full kit, get some practice and learn some tricks, then start building from their own sourced materials. The BYOC overdrive/screamer has so many extra parts for different versions of gainy type pedals, its not funny. Quote

nzdutchie Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I've made the tonepad sansamp gt2. It sounds ok and while it says its for advanced builders its not that hard to build. Here's the link http://tonepad.com/project.asp?id=22 Quote
