szaffino Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Just wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences with these pickups. I've read some good reviews on Harmony Central and Figured that $35 for a bridge and neck pickup would be worth the price, and this was the right place to find out. They seem to have a bunch of pickup sets for extremely cheap on the guitarfetish site in the clearance section, so if your looking for some pups check it out. Cheers szaffino Quote
Acousticraft Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 I havent used them but I haved looked at their site many time thinking, man those sound like good pickups. I have only heard good things about them from all forums Ive been on. Quote
Batfink Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I've used them in a few builds without a hitch and also as retro fits in a bunch of Epiphone's. Only grumble is they don't seem to get really 'creamy' when pushed hard but that may be just the guitars that they're fitted to. At the end of the day for the price you really can't go wrong. Samba Pa Ti Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 id rather buy proper branded pickups, i find the quality of the gfs pickups is pretty crappy (bought a humbucker from them which had a massive crack in the bobbin), i also find the sound is pretty boring (i dont want to say sterile since it isnt). maybe im wrong though i might of used the wrong type of strings/amp/cable/plectrum and thats why they didnt sound like they claim on the site. im using a gfs telecaster pickup now which is ok i guess, it claims to be 'the best sounding tele pickup ever' , dont know what it was compared to because it isnt. Logical Frank Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Those clearance pickups on Guitar Fetish aren't sold as GFS pickups. I have been happy w/ both sets I've gotten from them. Both went into my Gibson SG to suit various mood and I liked either set better than the stock pickups for various reasons. Quote
JoeAArthur Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Dream 180's - great humbuckers. Less noise than even high end "branded" pickups. Only problem I had was getting the proper cosmetic match between neck and bridge models. First attempt, one was all black as I expected... the other was black except for nickel pole pieces and hardware. That one got swapped out pretty quickly, but it was still an unwelcome hassle. They sound great though!! Quote
