erikbojerik Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 ...and where can I find them? I've got stock jacks on my 4 main guitars, and they all suck eggs (noisy when the cable is tweeked). 2 Strats (normal jack cups) 1 LP 1 Jazz Bass knockoff thanks! Quote
Jon Bell Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 If they're are all noisy it's probably the cable, replace that first to check. Quote
Jehle Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 If they're are all noisy it's probably the cable, replace that first to check. Buy a monster cable. Quote
erikbojerik Posted October 28, 2003 Author Report Posted October 28, 2003 I've already done all the various cable shenanigans...either all 15 of my cables are bad, or its the 4 jacks. Quote
Jehle Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 That's a lot of cables. What about the other end? Do you run all of these through a single amp? Perhaps the amp is cracking. Quote
erikbojerik Posted October 29, 2003 Author Report Posted October 29, 2003 Nope...not the amp(s). Things seemed to improve when I took the jacks out and cleaned off a bit of corrosion with a dremel; we had a humidity episode in our house this past summer, and combined with my finger grease which must be something like pH 2 = instant rust on the metal if not immediately cleaned. ...based on the response, I guess a jack is a jack is a jack... Brian Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Pretty much, Switchcraft seems to be one of the industry standards in higher end equiptment. Quote
westhemann Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 yeah i am really picky about my electronicsbut even as **** as i am i don't worry too much about the input jack...but then again i use the ones that come with my emgs.....it sounds to me like bad soldering connections Quote
zandro Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 I have no idea of the connection/audio quality but I'm putting a Neutrik locking jack in my project [when or if I get to that point]. Quote
erikbojerik Posted October 29, 2003 Author Report Posted October 29, 2003 OK... ...after cleaning off the corrosion, I re-flowed all the solder joints on all the jacks, so they all look nice and shiny again. Good as new! Quote
