Daniel Schmolze
I'm doing a complete rebuild of a lawsuit era LP. The fretboard has seen better days (so has everything else, actually), and it has a bunch of dings that I would like to fill. I plan on staining the board a dark rosewood-ish color after I degrime it, so I'm in search of a filling technique that will not be noticeable after staining. Any ideas? Thanks. bentwood999
more info is needed >is it a rosewood fretboard to begin with? if so do you have any matching (somewhat lighter) rosewood around ? post a pic of the damaged area please
Southpa
Remove the frets and sand the board with a block that has the matching radius. Collect the rosewood dust and fill the dents 'n dings by layering superglue and rosewood dust. Then sand flush.
Jon
I got a couple small dings when fretting my first bass (whoops!). I use a soldering iron and a wet paper towel to pull the grain back flush and then sanded it down. Can't even tell I ever dented the fingerboard.
