Mr. Preston Swift
I'm redoing my first guitar body because it broke in half. I'm making a semihollow sort of LP double cutaway out of Oak and Quilted maple. How thick are the side suppose to be? By sides i mean how much wood is left on the sides after routing out the cavities. thx

Thin sides serve little purpose on a semi(weight savings is going to be very little). Peace,Rich

Mr. Preston Swift
Now that i know how thick the sides should be i'm not too sure how thick the back should be. The piece of oak i have is about 1 3-4/8 thick. So how far down should i go to keep stability but also get some weight relief?
