Kappasitanz
so i finally transformed my single conductor to 4 conductor humbuckers (pictorial l8r) now i need to decide how to wire it.... i was thinking of something like this Page's diagram with little extras like a tone cap switch and treble bleed stuff on the volume .... is there anything i might do to it.... i looking for uber heavy tone XD (and i know my pups might not be hot enough so dont tell me that....) oh yes.... they are unknown Pups rated at 8k and 12k
GregP
It's certainly a versatile wiring scheme! None of it's going to give you teh extra uber-heaviness, though. That's all in your pickups, your amp, and your fingers. Phase reversal and parallel wiring (vs. standard humbucker wiring in series) are both mods that will give you a thinner sound, not a thicker one. I'm also surprised at the diagram-- didn't Page actually use true tapped coils? (the coil has an extra lead coming out, somewhere in the middle of the winds) I don't know that as a fact at all, it's just something I thought I heard somewhere. Kappasitanz
tapping coils... thats going a little over the limit XD i have heard that modding the pickups that way doesnt produce a pretty good outcome.... anyway, any suggestions for the cap values, one for shredding and the other for .... acoustic non heavy stuff

JohnH
Regarding heaviness - most JP schemes have a switch to put both pups in series with each other. Thats does get heavy indeed! Without going overboard, a great way to use that feature is to have full bridge Hb, with extra bass from the neck in series. However, most JP designs do not have properly independent volume and tone controls for each pickup, which operate in series mode. It can be done however, such as on these designs at GN2: http://guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.c...read=1169255966 With this, you can for example, keep full treble from the bridge, and roll off all the treble from the neck, then use the neck volume to bring up just a selected amout of pure bass to enhance the bridge Hb This one is further enhanced with two extra switches to get inner/outer coils selected and parallel.single, series selection of each pup: http://guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.c...read=1181507361 John
