Sanding Sealer For Hard Maple

I'm going to finishing my "Prince Cloud Guitar" shortly & really need some finishing help! Does hard maple need to be sealed before painting starts & if so, what kind do u recommend?(BRAND NAME & TYPE) Thank U Carlos

yes it needs to be sealed if your painting ,a coat or two of shellac will do ZINSSER SealCoat

I use Minwax sanding sealer, cheap, works great, sands easily. I just brush it on.
