Spray Setup

Hey everyone. I am just starting my first guitar and could use a little advice in the finishing department. I plan on getting this Compressor and this Spray Gun. I just wanted to make sure that this setup is okay. Thanks a lot.

Looks like the air consumption of the gun matches the compressor nicely. What size needle has it got? For lacquer you need around 1.8mm.

I believe it comes with a 1.4mm tip. I plan on spraying Behlen's nitro with it. Is a larger tip necessary?

I've used a 1.4mm on several builds and had no dramas, although a larger tip will give you more

flow and a quicker build up .

It's all personal tastes , but I am changing to a 1.8 or 2.0mm for higher build up.

1.4mm should be fine for clear coat. DeVilbiss recomends the 1.8mm for primer so you get a quick heavy build to level off a surface or thicker fluids. They recomend 1.4mm for general color coats and clear coats.
