westhemann
sander.the carving is not nearly done yet,and neither is the outline of the body
DannoG
Looks great. How deep is the body overall? And how deep is the carve?

westhemann
the body is 2 1/4" overall and the carve is 3/8" deep, leaving 1 7/8" at the perimeter
krazyderek
wow, that's pretty thick wes, is that normal for that type of carve?? looks like there's still some blending to do on the top horn though, or is that just the lighting? what colour is this going to be again? westhemann
well, like i said i am not done with the carve or the outline. i made it that thick because some les pauls are that thick and i wanted the feel of a les paul, plus once i get all the hardware routed and in place i am going to strap it on and see how it feels...if it feels good i will do a belly cut and finish it,if it feels too thick i will run it through the thickness planer and shave it down(the back)
westhemann
oh by the way the pickup cavity is square because i edged it out with a chisel
krazyderek
cool, trying to make it as small as possible? so you needed to have square corners? or did you just feel like doing it? is that a HZ pickup??? i didn't think you were to fond of those
westhemann
that is my "sizing" pickup...it is exactly the same size as an 81 or 85.it is an hz but i do not use it.
