J.Crowhurst
After trying the book on building I have, Google, and the search feature on this site, I am still unable to determine this little detail... Exactly how does one go about making the neck pocket with the correct angle for a set neck? I am NOT asking how to determine the neck angle. jmrentis
Not quite sure, but I imagine if this doesn't help you, it will at least stir up some ideas for you. Wedges link. A number of people have designed their own version of the wedges trick, which enables them to route out the perfect angle for their set necks. Worth a look. Hope that helps some. Best of luck. J.Crowhurst
Is it safe to rout on an angle? Thanks for the link
Rick500
Check out David Myka's neck pocket jig.
jmrentis
Yes, but technically your router will be sitting on a lat surface of mdf, but I guess that will be slightly tilted. The angle won't be anything major so being slightly angled won't make a difference. Just make sure you are plenty experienced with a router and do plenty of practice runs on scrap wood. Also, make sure you have the right equipment like the right router bit. Best of luck. J PS: Ricks link is a great one, very handy jig right there which makes the whole thing easier and safer, plus can be used for other things as well. Both should work, but mykas jig will be probably more stable and easier to setup. I always forget about that dang page, I still have that jig 3/4s done and need to finish it, lol. Daniel Sorbera
I built one like Myka's and it works like a charm. Time well invested.
