fookgub
I know some of you are familiar with John Watkins and his CNC business. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what's going on over there? The main page (http://www.watkinsguitars.com/) says he's temporarily closed, but the online store (which I had bookmarked directly -- http://watkinsguitars.com/osc/) appears to be up and running. Anyone have the inside scoop? I was wanting to order one of his faux bound fingerboards when he reopens. Anyone have any comments about the quality of those or any of his other parts? I have not been able to find much information about his stuff on the 'net, but the little bit I did read was quite positive.
RAI6
Right from the site you linked to: "Sorry, we're closed for remodeling. Get ready for new products, a new look, and a new, more efficient, and more timely system of order execution."
fryovanni
John is shut down for a bit as he builds up stock and some new offerings. He mentioned he is changing up the way he is going to go about things to be more efficient. His quality and service is outstanding. I only wish I had more use for the parts he offers. I do have one of his necks setting on a shelf(it is made very well, accuracy is top notch). I also have one of his faux bound fretboards setting next to the neck, and it is also made perfectly. He has very high standards and quality control. Peace,Rich

I'm sure he's gotten a lot of e-mail about it already.
Mattia
I'm sure he won't mind the e-mail; I seem to recall he mentioned November, but I'm not positive. Posted about this over on the OLF (luthiersforum.com) a while back, but I can't find the details. I just ordered myself a bunch of his lining clamps, should be getting them soon (no more binder clips for me! OK, fewer binder clips, anyway....)
