Prostheta
Check out the recent Motley Crue live video...IIRC Vince Neil was playing a custom Gibson LP with a leopard print top which in fact didn't look too obscenely disgusting as it's a very feminine shape and works well....a Viper/SG shape won't.... Prostheta
Perhaps. It really depends on the piece of snakewood and the goncalo alves....a couple of nice complementary piece and for sure - a good choice!
White Summer
well i think if she is going to be your WIFE, i dont think it matters if it looks liek a squire. (ok, maybe thats a little too far...) I think that no matter what you do, she will love it, just put the effort in and she will tell. i think that sunburst idea would be sick though... Bobby
With my snakewood FB I went with a solid matt colour (Black) across the guitar, after much trial an error and mockupiness it seemd obvious by the end that the pattern and colour of the snakewood is so strong that any other character in the design just makes everything a bit confused and unbalanced. Further, with the Snakewood so $$ and drop dead gorgeous the matt paintwork with any details serves to frame the focal point of the guitar ie the SW, nothin then detracts from the centerpoint of the build. For the feminine touch just little things then, a tiny warm pink highlight here and there and dont forget them gem inlay dot markers! sb guitars
....I've got the wood now and i wanted to put single string bridges on the guitar-but-i can't find them. I will keep looking for them but until then I was wondering if anyone has any input on an alternative bridge.....tremelo-fixed-string thru-floyd.... WezV
allparts usually have the single string bridges in - worth checking there Or you can make something your self with a wooden plate and wilkinson trem style saddles http://www.blackmachine.net/ Go there and look at the '8' and '884' links at the top of the page to see what i mean probably much easier to just buy a standard fixed bridge - thats down to personal tatse though. You know your missus - what do you think she will prefer

WezV
The good thing is that you can experiment with the bridge plate till you get it right with very little investment.

WezV
not seen gold ones but the trems they come from to come in gold - it might still be cheaper than individual bridges
sb guitars
not seen gold ones but the trems they come from to come in gold - it might still be cheaper than individual bridges i looked them up- and the cheap ones i found on ebay are minimum $40, but the gold is satin and looks kinda crapy. the gold one I'm looking for is about 118 at stewmac and universal jems sell all six for 115.....bingo! BUT!-if anyone has found where to buy the gold saddles for the wilkinson/gotoh tremolo---just the saddles--- please post the info.
